NCOIL Releases 2021 Summer Meeting 30 Day Materials
The National Council of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) released the 30-day materials for the 2021 Summer Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts from July 14-17.
NCOIL CEO, Commissioner Tom Considine said, “We are looking forward to the Summer Meeting, as it feels like we are finally returning to a sense of normalcy. Compared to the past few meetings, we have a large majority of attendees that will be in person rather than virtual. With a number of interesting topics up for discussion, a really impressive number of first-time NCOIL legislators, and a great city, the Summer Meeting is shaping up to be very successful.”
Among the highlights for the Summer Meeting agenda are:
- The Workers’ Compensation Committee will consider the re-adoption of three Model Laws, and hear a “State of the Line Presentation” which focuses on the status of and trends in the workers’ compensation insurance marketplace
- The Special Committee on Race in Insurance Underwriting will hold its fifth meeting
- The Joint State-Federal Relations & International Insurance Issues Committee will hear from Tony Hake of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) who will discuss the National Flood Insurance Program’s (NFIP) new rating methodology– Risk Rating 2.0: Equality in Action
- The Life Insurance & Financial Planning Committee will hear from The Hon. Mary Jo Hudson, Partner– Squire, Patton, Boggs; Former Ohio Insurance Director regarding the implications of the Colorado Supreme Court Decision Amica Life Insurance Company v. Wertz on the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission (IIPRC)
